November 12: Elections & Waste Audit Volunteer Appreciation

Please join Sustainable SURP’s next meeting on Wednesday, November 12 @ 12pm-1pm. In this meeting we will cover the following:

  • Waste Audit Volunteer Appreciation and Results

A huge thank you to all those who came out super early in the beginning of October to sort, weigh and record garbage. It was great to see our SURP community in action. We will be having a volunteer appreciation and discussing the waste audit results. All are welcome to attend. Please RSVP at sustainable.surp@ryerson.ca.

  • Upcoming Projects in Winter 2015

Since we have gathered baseline data of SURP’s waste production, we will be looking into implementing an effective labeling system that will potentially help sort waste and recyclable material a whole lot better!

This will be followed by… another waste audit in March 2015! We will determine if the new labels had any effect on the waste and recycling diversion rates.

  • Sustainable SURP Election

In addition to our waste audit results, we will also be holding elections for Sustainable SURP positions! We are looking to fill positions who will work with the existing project coordinators. This is a great opportunity to get involved with the school, meet fellow classmates and improve your leadership skills.

We are filling the following positions starting in November 2014 to April 2015:

  • TWO (2) Undergraduate Project Coordinators
  • ONE (1) Graduate Project Coordinator
